Grazhdanskaya Oborona

Гражданская Оборона (Grazhdanskaya Oborona, roughly translated as Civil Defense) was a Soviet/Russian psychedelic punk band founded in 1984 and led by singer-songwriter Егор Летов (Yegor Letov) until his death in 2008. The band’s name is often abbreviated as "ГрОб" (grob), which translates to "coffin." Their discography is infamous for its raw, unpolished sound and symbolist, absurdist, and often abrasive yet socially charged lyrics.
